Status: Fate of a City 1.11

In what I foresee as the final release for Fate of a City, I've uploaded version 1.11 of the mod onto the vault. Featuring a few more tweaks to combat difficulty, area and sound design, and a few miscellaneous script fixes and typo corrections, it should make the module about as unbreakable and polished as is possible barring some weird and unforeseen circumstances. That said, if future patches break things, I will come back to it and find the solutions.

So, if you haven't done so already, or you want to kill some time before Mysteries of Westgate is released, play through Fate of a City - it will get your character to the perfect level to start playing the new adventure pack.

Argh, and I just downloaded it yesterday...

The Vault page still just has 1.10 though.

Depending on how busy the nice folk at the vault are, it can take a day or so to appear. There's nothing huge in the update, mostly little tweaks here and there to improve the overall quality and atmosphere - but if you can spare a wait of another day and a repeat download, you might find 1.11 a little bit more engrossing.

Congrats AmstradHero. This mod is definetely on my replay-list. It seems there have been a fair amount of updating going on since when I played it first.

Cheers!

I am taking a look at FoaC whenever I get a moment. I did start it once, but restarted it with v1.10. (I have never yet played more than one hour. I always get out of jail and begin to look around.)

However, I have decided that I *need* to take a break and look at other modules now and then just to help me relax. :) This was one I really wanted to check out and so made a start.

I just hope I do get the chance to play it to the end, even if it takes me a long while. :)

Lance.

Starwars: I haven't changed much of what I'd call the "core" experience of the mod - mainly because I'm still happy that it does what I originally set out to do! That said, there have been quite a few tweaks around the edges in response to comments and feedback. Things are a lot cleaner, tighter and a bit more professional, I feel.

Lance: I hope you do get the chance to play through FoaC. I'm sorry that I didn't manage to hook you more strongly with the intro! I'll make certain that my next module starts off with a fairly large BANG to really grab people right from the start.

Great, I'll download it tonight. I'm sure it'll be fun to play again. I think I'll try a human bard this time.

Hi AmstradHero,

Your mod is great! There was no problem with your intro at all. To put this into perspective, I have played more of your module than SoZ! And I am looking forward to that module more than any of the other OCs.

It simply boils down to time for me. I have to be very strict on what I do, or else I will end up playing mods and not working on my own. At the moment, I have just allowed myself to start to "play" other peoples mods to help me relax a bit more, and yours is the one I have chosen for the time being. :)

You mod does well from the word go and I am a little apprehensive about doing too much more in case it makes my own module feel inadequate. As a builder, one cannot help but compare how much work another builder has put into their module, and I can already see how much work you put into yours.

Great work!

Lance.

That's good news AH. As you know, I'm in the midst of a playthrough myself, and wouldn't mind benefitting from the tweaks... I'll try continuing my saved game with this new version. It looks like some of the adjustements at least should make it into the game, with little risk of major breakage. We'll see how that works out.
